On Sunday 20 September, the very best of our region comes together on and around the Grote Markt. Stroll through the stalls of the local produce and crafts market, taste regional delicacies, enjoy culinary creations and be surprised by the many activities for young and old.

Put your senses to the test and discover the delicious flavours of Haspengouw. Be surprised by a wide range of local crafts and delicacies, from artisanal jams and crunchy speculoos to spicy genever and other creative flavour sensations.

Stroll along the stalls, meet local producers and craftspeople, and taste the very best our region has to offer. The seasonal harvest is literally within reach. And after all that exploring? Relax on a cosy terrace with a local beer or a glass of Haspengouw wine.

Programme

10:30 am – Harvest celebration at the Church of Our Lady | Grote Markt

11:30 am – Tribute to ‘Het Appelmanneke’ with a tasting of ‘Appelmanneke’ beer | Luikerstraat – corner of Schepen Dejonghstraat

12 noon – Procession to the Groenmarkt and opening of Haspengouw (S)maakt – local produce and crafts market

12 noon – Exhibition ‘Beste Fruittob’ | Town Hall, Grote Markt

1 pm – Tasting of the ‘Beste Fruittob’ creations and public voting

3 pm – Public tasting of the ‘Beste Conferencedessert’ creations

4 pm – Award ceremony for ‘Beste Conferencedessert van Haspengouw 2026’

4:30 pm – Award ceremony for ‘Beste Fruittob door de Keizerlijke Commanderie’

Throughout the afternoon from 12 noon

• Children’s entertainment, bouncy castle and face painting
• Entertainment and activities, including Circus Paljasso
• Ride on the PIPO train departing from the Groenmarkt between 1 pm and 6 pm: tickets can be reserved here.
• Potluck at Kerkveld near the abbey tower: bring your own picnic!
